Mohamed Muizzu is set to undertake a state visit to Sri Lanka from May 3 to 6, 2026, at the invitation of Anura Kumara Disanayaka.
According to the President’s Office, President Muizzu will meet senior Sri Lankan leaders and hold official talks with President Disanayaka aimed at further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. The visit will also see the exchange of several Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) covering cooperation in key sectors.
The President will be accompanied by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, along with a delegation of Cabinet ministers and senior government officials.
The visit underscores the Maldives’ commitment to enhancing ties with longstanding partners that contribute to its development. Relations between the Maldives and Sri Lanka have remained close over the decades, with both countries cooperating across multiple areas.
President Disanayaka visited the Maldives in July last year to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations, highlighting the enduring friendship and cooperation shared by the two countries.
