Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) on Monday marked the 60th anniversary of Velana International Airport with a series of commemorative activities celebrating the milestone.
The anniversary celebrations began at 6:00 a.m. with a flag-hoisting ceremony held near Terminal 1. The ceremony was officiated by Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed and Deputy Managing Director Mujthaba Latheef.
The event was attended by Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Lam’aan, along with senior management and employees of MACL. Following the ceremony, a commemorative anniversary cake was cut to mark the occasion.

The day’s events concluded with a special ceremony and evening tea. During the function, awards were presented to the winner of the anniversary logo design competition and to the department that secured first place in the inter-departmental decoration competition held in conjunction with the anniversary.
The awards were presented by CEO and Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed.
