The Maldives
Marketing and Public Relations Corporation MMPRC has successfully launched the
first-ever ‘Tourism Symposium 2024 by Visit Maldives,’ marking a significant
milestone in the nation’s tourism sector. Held at Crossroads Maldives, this
event brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to
address pressing challenges and explore opportunities for sustainable growth
and innovation in tourism.
In his opening
remarks, MMPRC’s CEO & MD Ibrahim Shiuree emphasized the importance of
collaboration and innovation for the future of Maldives tourism. “I’m confident
that by embracing new ideas and working together, we can build an even stronger
and more diverse tourism sector. Let’s continue to innovate and create
unforgettable experiences for every visitor that comes our way,” Shiuree
stated.
The Minister of
Tourism, Ibrahim Faisal, echoed this sentiment, focusing on the sector's
sustainability and adaptability. “To ensure the long-term sustainability of our
tourism industry, we must adapt to evolving trends, address emerging
challenges, and embrace innovative approaches,” he said, highlighting the
importance of future-proofing the sector.
Chairperson of
MMPRC, Abdulla Giyas Riyaz, further emphasized the Maldives' leadership
potential in global tourism. “Together, we can build a masterpiece where the
Maldives not only thrives but leads, inspiring travellers and setting
benchmarks for excellence, delivering a master class like no other across the
world,” Riyaz remarked.
A key highlight
of the symposium was the exclusive panel discussion moderated by MMPRC Deputy
Managing Director Zihuny Rasheed. Featuring high-level government delegates,
including the Minister of Tourism, the panel explored strategies for a
resilient and sustainable tourism sector. Attendees had the chance to interact
with experts and gain valuable insights into the future of the industry.
The symposium
also featured presentations, interactive sessions, and networking
opportunities, offering participants a platform to contribute to MMPRC’s
tentative marketing plan for 2025. The event concluded with a showcase of MICE
tourism solutions, reinforcing the Maldives’ appeal as a premier destination
for large-scale events.
MMPRC aims to
continue fostering innovation and public-private collaboration through
initiatives like the Tourism Symposium, driving sustainable growth in the
Maldives' tourism industry.
