Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has firmly denied
recent social media claims alleging changes to employee salaries and benefits,
branding the rumors as baseless and intentionally misleading.
In a public statement released on Sunday, the company
addressed what it described as false stories being circulated by
certain individuals on social media, aimed at sowing confusion and mistrust
among MACL’s workforce. The company made it clear that no discussions had taken
place regarding any amendments to staff remuneration or benefit structures.
“These are false stories deliberately spread to hinder the
hard work being done day and night by this company’s employees to open the new
terminal at Velana International Airport,” the statement read. “Such actions
are meant to undermine employees’ trust in this company.”
MACL reassured its staff and the public that all salaries
and benefits will continue to be administered under the existing standards and
principles, and emphasized that there are no plans—now or in the future—to
alter these arrangements.
“The company’s most valuable asset is its employees,” MACL
stated, affirming its ongoing commitment to protecting staff welfare and
working in the best interests of its team.
The statement also included a call for responsible conduct
in public discourse, urging those who spread misinformation to respect the
truth and base their narratives on verified facts. While supporting freedom of
expression, MACL underscored the importance of maintaining accuracy and
integrity in public communications.
MACL concluded the statement by extending its appreciation
to all employees, recognizing their dedication and efforts, particularly in the
lead-up to the highly anticipated opening of the new passenger terminal at
Velana International Airport.
