Auditor General Hussain Niyazy met Indian High Commissioner G. Balasubramanian at the Auditor General's Office on Thursday. The two discussed deeper cooperation between audit institutions of the Maldives and India.
The meeting reaffirmed the partnership between the Auditor General's Office of the Maldives and India's Comptroller and Auditor General. Discussions centered on advancing cooperation under an existing memorandum of understanding between the two institutions, according to a statement from the Auditor General's Office.
The two sides discussed strengthening collaboration in professional training, capacity development, technical cooperation, and knowledge sharing. They also explored new areas of engagement to enhance public sector auditing and institutional practices, the statement said.
The Auditor General's Office said it valued the continued support of the Government of India and looked forward to strengthening the partnership further.
G. Balasubramanian has served as India's High Commissioner to the Maldives since presenting his credentials to President Mohamed Muizzu in January 2025. The Auditor General's Office and India's Comptroller and Auditor General have an existing memorandum of understanding covering audit cooperation between the two countries.
Hussain Niyazy has served as Auditor General since 2021.
