Ooredoo Maldives has officially launched the Ooredoo Nation Atoll eSports League 2025, marking the largest eSports tournament of its kind in the Maldives. The competition brings together 49 teams from 35 islands across 16 atolls, providing a national stage for players of the popular mobile game PUBG Mobile.
The league
kicked off with its Group Stage on 20 August and will run until 3 September,
culminating in a four-day finals series from 5 to 8 September. The top teams
will compete for a total prize pool of MVR 50,000, including MVR 25,000 for the
first-place team, MVR 12,000 for second, MVR 6,000 for third, and MVR 3,000 for
fourth. Additionally, the tournament will recognize the most valuable player
with MVR 4,000.
According to
Ooredoo Maldives, the league aims to empower Maldivian gamers by providing
competitive opportunities regardless of geography and demonstrating the
potential of digital platforms to connect communities nationwide. Participating
teams hail from diverse regions, including Addu City, Haa Alifu, Haa Dhaalu,
Raa, Lhaviyani, and several other atolls.
The launch of
the Ooredoo Nation Atoll eSports League underscores the growing popularity of
gaming in the Maldives and highlights the increasing role of digital platforms
in shaping youth culture and fostering community engagement across the country.
