Ifuru Island
Maldives has launched an exciting year-round skydiving experience, becoming the
first permanent skydiving drop zone in the Maldives. This new adventure,
developed in collaboration with Skydive Wasaga Beach and Skydive Maldives, will
officially begin in December 2024, offering tourists and thrill-seekers a
chance to experience tandem jumps over the breathtaking Maldivian landscape.
The skydiving
program will be led by Leslie Farkas, a seasoned expert in the sport with over
15 years of experience and more than 6,000 jumps, including 5,000 tandem jumps.
Farkas holds multiple instructional certifications, ensuring the highest safety
standards. He is joined by an elite team of professionals, including Master
Rigger Dominic Lachance, who has completed over 47,000 main pack jobs, and Alec
Thibeault, a Tandem Instructor with 19 years of experience and over 9,554
tandem jumps. Their expertise will be supported by Mathew Vinnels, known for
his operational management, and Darko Tupec, who will oversee aerial operations
as the program’s Elevator Pilot.
The skydiving
experience will be available year-round, with tandem jumps starting at $699
plus an additional 8% GST. The first jumps are scheduled to take place on
December 15, 2024. This new venture offers guests the chance to freefall from
high altitudes while taking in stunning views of the Maldives’ crystal-clear
waters and picturesque islands.
This initiative
marks a significant development in the Maldives' adventure tourism sector,
setting Ifuru Island as a premier destination for skydiving enthusiasts
worldwide.
