In a striking tribute to the nation’s 60th anniversary of independence, Maldivian, the national airline of the Maldives, has unveiled a new commemorative element on its aircraft livery, marking a moment of national pride and heritage. The addition features the words Dhivehi Raajje prominently written in the Dhivehi script—a symbolic nod to the country’s language, identity, and enduring sovereignty.
The first
aircraft to bear this patriotic emblem, Maldivian’s Airbus A330, made a
historic arrival at the newly inaugurated passenger terminal of Velana
International Airport on Monday, becoming the first airline to touch down at
the new facility. The occasion marked not just an aviation milestone but a
moment of national significance, as the aircraft carried with it a visual
statement of unity and independence.
The
commemorative design will be extended across Maldivian’s entire fleet in the
coming weeks, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to representing the nation
both in the skies and abroad. The special livery comes during a landmark year
for the Maldives and for Island Aviation Services Limited, the operator of
Maldivian, as both celebrate major milestones.
“As the national
airline, we take immense pride in carrying the name ‘Dhivehi Raajje’ across our
skies,” said Ali Saleem, Deputy Managing Director of Island Aviation Services
Limited. “Introduced during a milestone year for both the nation and our airline,
this meaningful tribute is more than just a design element—it is a powerful
reflection of our identity and the values we uphold every time we take flight.”
The updated
livery is expected to resonate deeply with the public, serving as a reminder of
the nation’s progress and the unity of its people. It also reinforces
Maldivian’s unique role as not just a carrier of passengers, but as a carrier
of national pride.
