Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/Visit Maldives) has appointed
renowned digital and brand strategist Sarah Mathews as a consultant,
reinforcing its commitment to sustainable and inclusive tourism.
With over 30
years of experience in digital marketing, Mathews is celebrated for her
expertise in data-driven strategies and has collaborated with global brands
such as Tesla, Coca-Cola, Japan Airlines, and Singapore Airlines. Dubbed the
“Insight-Cyclopaedia,” she spent a decade at Tripadvisor, where she leveraged
big data analytics to shape marketing strategies across the Asia Pacific.
Mathews has also
led the acclaimed Destination Academy, a digital marketing boot camp, and
worked with prominent tourism boards, including the Hong Kong Tourism Board and
Visit Flanders Belgium Tourism. She made history as the youngest female chair
of the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) and is a strong advocate for
diversity, equity, and responsible travel. A sought-after speaker, her insights
have been featured on platforms like CNN, UNWTO, and BBC.
Her role at
MMPRC will support the enhancement of the Maldives’ brand strategy, refining
key directives while exploring the formation of an industry Technical Committee
within focus groups. MMPRC sees her appointment as a step forward in
strengthening the nation’s tourism industry through innovation, sustainability,
and community engagement.
