The Privatization
and Corporatization Board (PCB) has appointed former Deputy Commissioner of
Police Mohamed Rishwan as the new Managing Director and Board Director of
Maldives Ports Limited (MPL). The announcement was made on last Wednesday
following the dismissal of his predecessor, Mohamed Wajeeh.
Rishwan, who has
held key government positions in the past, brings a wealth of experience to his
new role. He previously served as Deputy Commissioner of Police during former
President Mohamed Nasheed’s administration before resigning in July 2011. He also
held the position of Deputy CEO at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH)
during former President Abdulla Yameen’s tenure.
With his new
role at MPL, Rishwan will be responsible for overseeing the country’s primary
port operations and implementing the government's strategic vision for the
sector.
