The government has removed Shamhooza Ahmed as Chairperson and Board member of Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC), effective today. No reason was provided. She had served as chairperson since December 2023. No replacement has been announced.

The government has dismissed Shamhooza Ahmed from her position as Chairperson of the Board of Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC), effective today.
The decision also removes her from her membership on the MWSC Board of Directors. No reason was given for the dismissal.
Shamhooza, from S. Feydoo, was appointed as MWSC Board Chairperson on 26 December 2023. She also serves as a Director at the Male' City Council. She holds a Master's in Business Administration from Avid College and a Diploma in Human Resource Management from MI College.
MWSC is a state-owned utility company that provides water and sewerage services across the Maldives. The Maldives Privatization & Corporatization Board has not issued a statement on the appointment of a replacement chairperson.
