Maldivian running star Aishath Himna Hassan has been awarded
Bank of Maldives (BML) Sports Scholarship for 2024.
The scholarship aims to support athletes in achieving their
full potential by providing fully funded opportunities to train and develop at
recognized high-performance training centers worldwide.
Managed in collaboration with the Maldives Olympic Committee
(MOC), the athlete selection process for the scholarship was carried out by
MOC.
Himna will undergo a year-long training program at SprinTec
Track Club in Jamaica, renowned for producing world-class sprinters.
Himna gained widespread recognition in 2022 when she
shattered the Maldives women’s 100-meter record, previously held for 21 years
by Samha Ahmed, during the Commonwealth Games.
Having broken multiple national records, Himna is widely
regarded as one of the most promising athletes in the Maldives.
