Bank of Maldives (BML) has further strengthened its presence in Haa Dhaalu Atoll with the launch of new self-service ATMs in four additional islands, under its nationwide “Mulhi Raajje ah BML ATM” initiative.
The new ATMs
were officially introduced in Hanimaadhoo, Naivaadhoo, Nellaidhoo, and
Nolhivaram. The services were inaugurated during ceremonies attended by
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Cabinet Ministers, BML Chairperson Ahmed Ali
Habeeb, CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef, along with senior officials
of the Bank.
Speaking at the
event, BML CEO and MD Mohamed Shareef highlighted the importance of accessible
banking services across the country. “ATMs play a crucial role in bringing
customers into the formal banking system, so it’s a proud moment not just for
the Bank, but for the communities of these islands, as we continue to bring
banking closer to customers and enable easier access to financial services
wherever they live,” he said.
The expansion is
part of BML’s wider efforts to enhance financial inclusion and convenience for
island communities. Currently, the Bank operates 41 branches across all 20
atolls, 150 Self-Service Banking Centres, 208 ATMs, and offers a range of
advanced digital banking solutions.
Hanimaadhoo, one
of the key islands included in the expansion, already houses a dedicated
Self-Service Banking ATM at Hanimaadhoo International Airport. The addition of
a new ATM in the island’s community further increases access to banking
facilities for residents and travelers alike.
As the country’s
largest financial institution, BML continues to play a central role in
expanding access to modern banking services across the Maldives.
