Maldivian and Air India have signed a bilateral agreement to
strengthen travel links between the two countries and make it easier for
passengers to move across regional and domestic routes.
Through this partnership, Maldivian will be able to bring in
more travellers from Air India’s global network and connect them to flights
serving 16 islands beyond Malé. The agreement also allows Maldivian to receive
feeder traffic from Delhi and Mumbai on its India routes, giving passengers
smoother connections when travelling to or from the Maldives.
Speaking about the deal, Maldivian Managing Director Ibrahim
Iyas said the partnership supports the airline’s goal of improving access to
the atolls and making onward travel easier for visitors. He noted that Air
India’s reach, combined with Maldivian’s domestic network, can help boost both
tourism and business travel.
Air India’s Chief Commercial Officer Nipun Aggarwal said the
Maldives remains a top holiday choice for Indian travellers, and this interline
partnership gives visitors a simple way to explore more of the country’s
lesser-known islands. He said combining Air India’s network with Maldivian’s
domestic routes allows travellers to plan a full Maldives journey on one
itinerary.
Both airlines say the agreement supports broader regional
cooperation and aims to improve the overall travel experience through better
connectivity and more integrated networks.
