Bank of Maldives (BML) has strengthened its nationwide banking network with the inauguration of six new branches, further enhancing access to financial services across key islands. The new branches were officially launched by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu at a ceremony held this evening, attended by the bank’s Chairperson Ahmed Ali Habeeb, CEO and Managing Director Mohamed Shareef, and other senior officials.
The newly established branches are located in HDh. Hanimaadhoo, AA. Thoddoo, Th. Vilufushi, S. Hulhudhoo, Th. Hirilandhoo, and HDh. Kulhudhuffushi, bringing BML’s services closer to communities across the country. The branches will begin serving customers from tomorrow.
Among the new openings, the Kulhudhuffushi branch stands out as a dedicated Business Center, specifically designed to support local enterprises and strengthen business banking services in the region.
The expansion reflects BML’s continued commitment to ensuring accessible banking services while maintaining close relationships with customers. Speaking at the ceremony, CEO Mohamed Shareef emphasized that despite rapid digital transformation in banking, the institution remains focused on personal engagement.
He noted that staff at the new branches will not be confined to office spaces, but will actively visit homes and businesses across their respective islands and neighboring communities. Their role will include providing information on banking products and services, promoting financial literacy, and raising awareness on scam prevention.
The initiative underscores BML’s approach to combining digital innovation with community-based service, ensuring customers across the Maldives receive both convenience and personalized support.
