Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has inaugurated the VIA Blood Donation Camp 2026, reinforcing its commitment to social responsibility and public wellbeing at a time when the Maldives is facing a critical shortage in national blood supplies.
The two-day blood donation camp was officially launched today at Velana International Airport, with MACL’s Chief Commercial Officer Mohamed Mihad attending as the chief guest. Representatives from Maldives Blood Services (MBS), airport management, staff members, and stakeholders operating within the airport ecosystem were also present at the inauguration.
The initiative comes in the wake of a declared national blood supply emergency, highlighting the urgent need for sustained donor participation to ensure the continuity of essential medical services across the country. MACL stated that the camp aims to create greater awareness while making blood donation accessible and convenient for airport staff and partners, enabling them to contribute directly to this nationwide effort.
Through the VIA Blood Donation Camp, MACL has actively facilitated coordination, participation, and outreach among its workforce and stakeholders, positioning the airport community as a key contributor to supporting national healthcare needs.
MACL expressed its sincere appreciation to Maldives Blood Services for their collaboration and professionalism in organizing the camp, and extended gratitude to all donors, volunteers, and departments involved, noting that their collective efforts play a vital role in saving lives.
