SIMDI Group today initiated a new chapter in local agriculture with the opening of the first KuriFresh outlet in Malé, bringing high-quality, locally grown produce closer to households, retailers, restaurants and the hospitality sector.
The outlet was officially inaugurated by State Minister Ismail Azmee Adnan and Permanent Secretary Mohamed Anees of the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare. The ceremony was attended by SIMDI Group’s management and team, marking the culmination of years of planning, investment and confidence in Maldivian agricultural potential.

KuriFresh produce is cultivated in the fertile lands of Ekasdhoo in Shaviyani Atoll, where farming and post-harvest handling are carried out under strengthened systems to ensure freshness, sustainability, food safety and consistent quality for the market.
Based on harvest cycles, the Malé outlet will offer a rotating selection of fruits, vegetables, leafy greens and herbs. The range includes island bananas, papayas, watermelons, pumpkins, sweet peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuces, alongside herbs such as basil, mint and rosemary, with seasonal additions planned throughout the year.

With its launch in Malé, KuriFresh positions locally grown produce closer to everyday consumption, reinforcing national efforts to strengthen domestic agriculture and reduce reliance on imported food. SIMDI Group said the initiative represents a new chapter where what is grown at home is proudly enjoyed across the nation.
