Velana International Airport’s newly developed Terminal 1 has commenced services for HiSky, marking another milestone in the terminal’s expanding international operations. The low-cost airline officially began handling its flights from the terminal today, further strengthening connectivity to the Maldives.
To mark the
start of HiSky’s operations at Terminal 1, a special ceremony was held at the
airport, attended by the General Manager of Maldives Inflight Catering Group,
Ali Shakir. The event was also attended by Deputy General Manager of Voyages,
Ignaz Mansoor, alongside officials from HiSky and senior management of Maldives
Airports Company Limited (MACL).
As part of the
launch, the first HiSky flight to operate from Terminal 1, flight H4-8569, was
accorded a warm welcome upon arrival. The 222 passengers onboard were received
with traditional cultural performances, highlighting Maldivian hospitality and
marking the airline’s entry into the terminal in a celebratory manner.
With the
inclusion of HiSky, Terminal 1 is now serving a total of 38 airlines,
reflecting the steady expansion of operations at Velana International Airport.
MACL stated that the continued addition of airlines aligns with its objective
of delivering comprehensive, high-quality services to all carriers operating to
and from the Maldives, while enhancing the overall passenger experience at the
country’s main international gateway.
