Maldives Ports Limited has carried out a practical Hazard
Identification and Occupational Health and Safety risk management exercise as
part of its ongoing push to strengthen safety standards across its operations.
The exercise took place at Malé Commercial Harbour and
followed a round of induction sessions held from 19 to 22 May 2025. Teams from
every operations shift completed the preparatory sessions before taking part in
the hands-on component led by MPL’s Health and Safety Department.
During the training, staff walked through how to spot
potential hazards, assess possible incident scenarios, and identify both root
causes and contributing factors. MPL said the aim is to help employees make
better, more informed decisions when managing risks on site.
According to the company, these sessions are part of a wider
effort to build a strong safety culture, raise awareness, and support
continuous improvements across the organisation. MPL added that the initiative
reflects its commitment to safer work environments and better day-to-day
operations.
