MACL, VIHS Sign MoU to Launch Student Internship Programme

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) and Villa International High School (VIHS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a student internship programme aimed at providing students with practical workplace experience and exposure to the aviation sector.

The agreement was signed by MACL Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed and VIHS Principal Ali Musthafa.

The signing ceremony was attended by MACL Deputy Managing Director Mujthaba Latheef, Senior General Manager of Human Resources Ali Huzaim, members of MACL’s Learning and Development team, VIHS senior management and other school representatives.

Under the partnership, students will have opportunities to experience a professional working environment and gain a better understanding of how knowledge learned in the classroom is applied in the workplace.

The programme will expose students to a range of functions involved in operating Velana International Airport, including airport operations, engineering, information technology, customer service, logistics, corporate services, and safety and security.

Speaking at the ceremony, Shareef said the initiative reflects MACL’s commitment to “Empower and Develop Our People,” extending the company’s focus on development beyond its existing workforce to young people who could become part of MACL, the aviation industry or the wider workforce in the future.

MACL said the internship programme will also help students develop key workplace skills such as communication, teamwork, accountability, adaptability, problem-solving and professionalism, while increasing their awareness of future career opportunities.

The MoU also marks the beginning of a broader partnership between MACL and VIHS, with opportunities for further cooperation through internships, career-awareness programmes, industry talks, workplace visits, mentoring and other student-development initiatives.
