Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has successfully completed container loading operations for the general cargo vessel MV Celestia at the Thilafushi Berth, marking another milestone in its ongoing efforts to ease congestion at the country's main commercial port.
The loading operation, carried out yesterday, saw a total of 372 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) loaded onto the vessel in under 24 hours, demonstrating the operational efficiency of the Thilafushi facility.
According to MPL, MV Celestia is the fourth vessel to successfully berth at the Thilafushi Berth since trial berthing operations commenced in May 2026.
The continued use of the Thilafushi Berth forms part of MPL's strategy to enhance cargo handling capacity, improve turnaround times and reduce congestion at the main port. The successful operation highlights the growing role of the facility in strengthening the Maldives' maritime logistics network.
MPL has been progressively expanding operations at Thilafushi as part of broader efforts to improve port efficiency and support the increasing demand for cargo handling services across the country.
